Education & Training Programme in Safety Sciences for Medicines (SafesciMET)

Pasted Graphic

SafeSciMET has established a pan-European education and training network, which solves a shortfall identified by EUFEPS in current drug safety education and training in Europe where an integrative and translational approach is lacking. The public consortium consists of top academic institutions for drug safety education and research and Industrial pharmaceutical companies, all members of EFPIA.

The EFPIA consortium has considerable experience in training and education, management, pan-European geographical outreach, and an extensive external network of contacts.

The SafeSciMET together with the coordinators of other IMI E&T topics, will participate in the Strategic Coordination Board to ensure coordination between the IMI E&T topics.

SafeSciMET Executive Committee will supervise the management of the project.

In SafeSciMET there are 6 work packages co led by an Academic and an Industry consortium member. They are:

* WP1 – Project management
* WP2 – Development and harmonisation of the training programme
* WP3 – Quality assurance and accreditation
* WP4 – Adaptation and support of an e-learning environment
* WP5 – Development and running a student office
* WP6 – Sustainable safety sciences education and training business model for long-term quality delivery and outcome.

National implementation will be facilitated through contacts with university authorities, ministries of higher education, and through national liaison.

The Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology is involved in the program and hold a course on "Reproductive Toxicology".
