Blocking Them All: β-Arrestins Inhibit Cellular Signaling
β-arrestins are scaffold proteins that link G protein-coupled receptors to multiple “nonclassical” signaling pathways. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Mo et al., 2008 show that β-arrestin1 also switches off signaling through the STAT1 transcription factor, thereby inhibiting interferon-induced antiviral responses.
